Professional Development sessions (PDs) for Musical Explorers are led by Shanna Lesniak, a professional teaching artist with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Each session will feature artists from the program and will last approximately three hours. Teachers, be prepared to co-create with your colleagues in an exciting collaborative lesson-planning activity!
Attendance Expectations
- ME teachers are required to attend one PD per semester.
- With prior approval, a school representative(s) may attend the PD with the intent to re-facilitate session content to teachers at a school site.
Sign Up Tips
- Fall Professional Development sign ups are open August 5-30, 2024.
- Spring Professional Development sign ups are open December 9, 2024 – January 10, 2025.
- Unregistered participants will not be able to sign up for PDs. Register here.
- One Sign Up form may be submitted for multiple registered attendees.
Day-of Details
- You may have to pay for parking. SMF recommends the Montgomery Street lot.
- SMF will provide a coffee bar.
- Be prepared for collaborative physical and vocal activities.
- Bring along:
- A bottle of water
- Note-taking items
- Laptop or tablet
- Your enthusiasm for music education!
