Professional Development sessions (PDs) for Musical Explorers are led by Shanna Lesniak, a professional teaching artist with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Each session will feature artists from the program and will last approximately three hours. Teachers, be prepared to co-create with your colleagues in an exciting collaborative lesson-planning activity!

Attendance Expectations

• ME teachers are required to attend one PD per semester.  
• With prior approval, principals may send PD Representatives on behalf of all Musical Explorers teachers at their school.

Sign Up Tips

• Fall PD sign ups are open August 5-30, 2024.
• Spring PD sign ups are open December 9, 2024 – January 10, 2025.
• One Sign Up form may be submitted for multiple registered attendees.
• Unregistered participants will not be able to sign up for PDs.
  • Register here from July 22 – August 30, 2024.

Day-of Details

• You may have to pay for parking. SMF recommends the Montgomery Street lot.
• SMF is excited to offer a coffee bar for PD attendees!
• Be prepared for collaborative physical and vocal activities.
• Bring along:
  • A bottle of water
  • Note-taking items
  • Laptop or tablet
  • Your enthusiasm for music education!
