Professional Development
Professional Development sessions (PDs) for Musical Explorers are led by Shanna Lesniak, a professional teaching artist with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Each session will feature artists from the program and will last approximately three hours. Teachers, be prepared to co-create with your colleagues in an exciting collaborative lesson-planning activity!
Attendance Expectations
- ME teachers are required to attend one PD per semester.
- With prior approval, principals may send PD Representatives on behalf of all Musical Explorers teachers at their school.
- To request approval, download, complete, and email the form below to justice@savannahmusicfestival.org.
Sign Up Tips
- Fall PD sign ups are open August 5-30, 2024.
- Spring PD sign ups are open December 9, 2024 – January 10, 2025.
- One Sign Up form may be submitted for multiple registered attendees.
- Unregistered participants will not be able to sign up for PDs.
- Register here from July 22 – August 30, 2024.

Day-of Details
- You may have to pay for parking. SMF recommends the Montgomery Street lot.
- SMF is excited to offer a coffee bar for PD attendees!
- Be prepared for collaborative physical and vocal activities.
- Bring along:
- A bottle of water
- Note-taking items
- Laptop or tablet
- Your enthusiasm for music education!
